Port Jefferson American Music Festival
Rock, Jazz, Dixieland, Blues, Folk, Country, & Funk! Over 35 performers on 4 stages. Emerging artists as well as top name performers. Friday night kick-off starts at 7PM, goes till 11PM. Saturday from 12 NOON till 6P, then a huge concert on the PJ ferry dock, followed by a late-night Blues & Brews cruise AT 11P on the Port Jeff Ferry. Sunday, 12 NOON till 6P. Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race Festival
Time: 9-9:00 pm
Location: Harborfront Park, Centennial Park, east shoreline of the inner harbor-Port Jefferson Harbor.
The event will consist of 4 dragon boats with 12-15 teams competing in a 200 meter race course, 1/10 of a mile. Each team is made-up of 19 ‘paddlers’, one steersman and 1 drummer. Heats will run all day with a culmination of an awards ceremony late afternoon. ‘High Five’Dragon Boat Co. will be providing all the ‘dragon boats’ and orgainzing all the water portion of the festival!All race teams will have their own ‘encampment’ all along the Harorfront Park as they are queuing up for their races!
The festival will have Asian performing arts to potentially include: Kung Fu, a Lion Dance, a Taiko Drum performance, a Kendo performance using wooden Japanese swords, Chinese children’s dance, Korean Children’s dance or fan dance, performance by a Chinese flute soloist, a performance of Chinese Yoyo aka “Diablo” and strong consideration is being consider for a Taiwanese American Rock and Roll Band.There will be some Asian retail vendors and Asian food vendors.Call 631-473-1414 or email: info@portjeffchamber.com for more details.
