True Stories With A Twist In Port Jefferson “Game Wrapped In A Storytelling Show” Featuring Comedy and Community
(mostly) TRUE THINGS, a game wrapped in a storytelling show that features true stories, told by a line-up of performers that range from award-winning professionals to local people taking the stage for the first time, will have its first performance of 2023 on Saturday January 7, 7 pm at The Performing Arts Studio, 224 E. Main St, Port Jefferson, NY. Tickets are $15 online at Eventbrite or $20 at the door (cash only). Complete information about the show is available at www.mostlytruethings.com
The show is hosted by writer/performer Jude Treder-Wolff, who has been featured on national platforms like PBS Stories From The Stage, the RISK! Live show and podcast, which has a million downloads every month, Story Collider, Mortified, Story District in Washington, DC and The Women’s Storytelling Festival in Fairfax VA, to name just a few, and is continually performing in the vibrant NY storytelling scene. Storytellers sharing a true story from their own experience in this show are:
Dawn Borchers, a sales and marketing professional who works internationally;
Michele Carlo a MOTH slam winner, featured on shows all over the New York area, and author of Fish Out Of Agua;
Alan Lyons, an attorney for a mid-size Manhattan law firm, father of 4 and die-hard fan of his hometown English Premier League soccer team Leeds United.
Robin Bady, a MOTH slam winner, award-winning storyteller and educator who performs internationally and hosts BadyHouse Storytelling Concerts in her Brooklyn home.
This show features 4 true stories but 3 of them include subtle little lies. In the second act, the audience questions the storytellers, then votes for the person they think told it straight. Winners get a tote bag, and the whole truth about each story is shared before the end of the evening. It is a combination of comedy, heart and community that is truly a unique experience. About Jude Treder-Wolff’s group shows, the The New York Daily News wrote “Self-medicate with real-life therapist Jude Treder-Wolff and her talented line-up of performers. Expect the unexpected. And without the hourly rates!”
Theater Is Easy described the show as “Instant relief from the blues” and Push/Pause TV as “a great evening in a great space.”
